Obituary for Agnes Hazel Oakes
Agnes Hazel Oakes, 88 of Pikeville passed away on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at her home. Agnes was of the Freewill Baptist faith and was a member of Sampson FWB Church. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and reading. She will be best be remembered as a gentle, kind, loving Christian lady who was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Agnes was born in East Tennessee to the late Minard and Hettie Reagan on June 18, 1925. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, husband; R.A. Oakes, sons; Randell and Johnny Oakes, brothers; Frank, Paul and Wayne Reagan, 2 great-grandsons; Bentley Bassamore and Brian Keith Oakes. Agnes is survived and will be missed by her son; Rudy (Dionna) Oakes, daughters-in-law; Josie Oakes and Carol Oakes, brothers; Billy (Margie) Reagan, Chattanooga, TN., Howard (Gladys) Reagan, Pikeville, TN., sisters; Louise Patterson, Pikeville, TN., and Mary (Carl) Wilson, McMinnville, TN., grandchildren; Keith (Anita) Oakes, Renee Smith, Kevin (Susan) Oakes, Cynthia (Tommy) Frady, and Carie (Mackenzie) Whitaker, great-grandchildren; Jessica and Jennifer Allison, Canyon, Layla and Jaycee Frady, 1 great-great-grandchild; Lucas Cole Smith, several nieces and nephews, and many special friends. A Celebration of Agnes’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday September 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Leslie Hickey and Bro. Bill Montandon officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 pm Thursday. Burial will be in the Blankenship Cemetery.
