Obituary for Billy Allen Angel

Billy Allen Angel, age 87 of Cold Springs (Pikeville, TN), died October 2, 2022, at the home he built with his loving wife. Billy was a Christian for most of his life. He spent time when his children were young as the preacher at New Harmony Church of Christ and later was an active member of Cold Springs Church of Christ as long as his health allowed. Billy loved God, his wife Martha and his family. He loved his home and was content to stay in Cold Springs. He greeted life with a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face.

Even as a child, Billy loved to take things apart and see how they worked and how to fix them. This led to his career as a sewing machine mechanic whose services were in demand for as long as he was able to work. Because he understood the importance of service, Billy spent many years as a member of both the Pikeville Volunteer Fire Department and the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads. Billy joined the Bledsoe County Rescue Squad in 1975. During his forty-seven years of service, he was a past Captain, and held every other office within the squad. Billy was a State Unit Director for many years serving for Bledsoe County.

Billy never met a stranger and loved to talk to and get to know people. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, and mow his yard.

Preceding Billy in death was his loving wife of sixty-six years, Martha Jane Cooley Angel, parents, Newell Hondo Angel and Emma Pollard Worthington; two sisters; two brothers; daughter-in-law, Pat Angel; grandchildren, Nicole Angel, Noah Melton.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, William (Crystal) Angel, Tim Angel; daughter, Theresa (David) Adkins; grandchildren, Will (Amber) Angel, Trey (Mary) Melton, Effie and Afton Adkins; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Brycen Angel, Connor, Westyn, and Elijah Melton; brother, Dion “Snake” (Barbara) Angel; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am CDT Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in the Pikeville Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tony Britt officiating. Burial will be in Iron Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00pm-8:00pm CDT Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the funeral home.

Condolences can be made at www.pikevillefuneralhome.com. Pikeville Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
