Obituary for Charles Gray Moody

Charles Moody, 86 of Pikeville, passed away on October 12, 2016. He served in the U S Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. Charles also loved fishing and woodworking as some of his hobbies.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lucious Earl and Effie Hale Moody; sisters, Faye Whitworth, Earlene Bishop; brothers, Luke, Joe, and Leonard Moody; grandson, Charles Riley Gilliam (Ty).
Left behind to cherish Charles’ memory is his wife of sixty-two years, Jimmie Mae Moody; son, Jeffrey Gray (Trish)Moody, Powells Crossroads; daughters, Beth (Bob) Gilliam, Dunlap, Cindy (Sandy) Bice and Lisa (Charlie) Morgan, both of Pikeville; sisters, Deltrice Howard, Barbara Shockley, and Virginia Baker, all of Spencer; grandchildren, April (Rick) Smith, Shepherd Michigan, Tyra McGuigan, Dunlap, Erica (Michael) Campbell, Trey (Alicia Johnson) Bice, Clint (Candy) Bice, Alyssa (Brandon) Smith, Taylor (Efrain) Morgan, Briar Morgan ,all of Pikeville, and Todd Westgate, Canada; great-grandchildren, Kate, Aspen, and Zola Smith, Samantha Innes, Amber Brown, Kat and J. P. McGuigan, MaKayla, MaKenle, and Spencer Campbell, Quinton and Gracyn Bice, Brayden Reyes, and Kynslee Smith; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 15, with Bro. Freddy Savage and Bro. Phillip Luna officiating. Burial will be in the Blankenship Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 11am until 8 pm Friday, October 14 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family ask contributions be made to the Pat Summitt Foundation.
