Doris Ernestine Blankenship Davis, age 88 of Pikeville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, April 28, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side. Doris loved her family, was a member of Sampson Freewill Baptist Church, a preachers wife, a born again Christian; who taught Sunday School. She worked by her husband’s side building houses and painting for forty years. She loved cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, and watching her grandkids and great-grandkids. Doris always loved people in her home, and having parties for her family.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Lou Simmons Blankenship; son, James Mikey Davis; grandson, Heath Davis; great-grandson, William Reed Capps; brothers, Earl and Landon Blankenship; sister, Wilma Hodges; son-in-law, Terry Olinger; brother-in-law, J C Hodges; sisters-in-law, Lorene, Nina, and Betty Blankenship.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of seventy-two years, Hubert Carl Davis; sons, Roger (Aundrea) Davis, Tony (Cyndi) Davis; daughter, Sandra Olinger; grandchildren, Dena (Keith) Capps, Willie Davis, Amanda Lee, Rhyan (April) Davis, Zephanie (Andrew) Hudson, Garrett Olinger, Makena Davis; great-grandchildren, Zoey and Avah Capps, Silas and Rhylea Davis, Caine Lee; brothers, Johnny Blankenship, Wayne (Annette) Blankenship, Gary (Peggy) Blankenship; several nieces; nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.
A celebration of life will be 2:00 pm CDT Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Sampson Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Montandon and Bro. Jamey Pack officiating. Burial will follow in Blankenship Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rhyan Davis, Keith Capps, Garrett Olinger, Willie Davis, Silas Davis, and Caine Lee. The family will receive friends 1:00pm-9:00pm at Pikeville Funeral Home Saturday, April 29, 2023 and Sunday 9:00am until service time at Sampson Freewill Baptist Church.
