Elizabeth Adams Cranwell, longtime resident of Pikeville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in her beloved Sequatchie Valley at the age of 88. Known affectionately as" Ibbe", by her many friends and family she was married to the late Dr. Thomas G. Cranwell until his death February 7, 1986. Miss Ibbe and 'œDr. Tom" enjoyed many happy years of marriage, raising three children, living on a working farm in Bledsoe County, and supporting many community causes all while Dr. Cranwell practiced medicine and surgery in Pikeville for forty years. The things they did together for the benefit of Bledsoe County and its people are too numerous too mention. Besides her late husband she is preceded in death by her sister, Stell Adams, and her son T.G. Cranwell, Jr, DVM. She is survived by two brothers, George M. Adams (wife Mary), and James Preston Adams, a son, John Dakin Cranwell, MD. (wife Sharon) of Signal Mountain, and a daughter, Mary Louise Wheeler, (husband Gene) of Pikeville. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two nephews and several cousíns. Ibbe will be missed not only by her family and friends in Pikeville but also by close friends in Bonita Beach, Florida, with whom she celebrated many beautiful sunsets in the winter months since Tom'™s death. The Cranwell family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Elizabeth Herd of Pikeville, who has been with the family for almost forty years. Her love, loyalty, and compassion to Miss Ibbe especially in the last few years have been greatly appreciated. The love and care given by, Etta Mae Hudson and Dorothy Smith of Dunlap, Tennessee is also sincerely appreciated. The comfort, care and love they provided will not be forgotten. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pikeville Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service officiated by Rev. Jeanie Brown for family and friends held at the Pikeville Cemetery on Saturday August 29, 2009 at 2 o'clock CST. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association or a favorite charity. Condolences may be sent to Pikeville Funeral Home at 39299 Highway 30, P.O.Box 153 Pikeville, TN 37367
