Obituary for George Henry Morgan

George Morgan, 81 of Pikeville passed away on December 1, 2013. He was a charter member of Calvary Freewill Baptist. He also served as Bledsoe County Sheriff from 1986-1994. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. George was born December 14, 1913 in Benton, TN., to the late Silas Marion and Mattie Lee Morgan. He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents; 1st wife; Willene Morgan, son; Tony Morgan, brothers; Homer, Willis, Herbert, and Carl Morgan. George is survived and will be missed by his 2nd wife; Helen Morgan, sons; Jim (Gloria) Morgan, Joe (Debbie) Morgan, and Charlie (Lisa) Morgan, daughters; Aundrea (Roger) Davis and Jacque (Mark) Pugh, step-children; Kenneth (Jamie) Cox, Connie (Danny) Brown, Margaret (Stephen) Prince, and Andy Venable, 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many special friends. A Celebration of George’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday Dec 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Phillip Luna, Rev. Freddie Savage, and Rev. Irvin Detweiler officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Blankenship Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Gideon Bibles be bought in his honor.
