Obituary for Inez Jean Martin
Inez Jean (Gray) Martin, 84, of Pikeville TN, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Inez is preceded in death by her husband, Roy P. Martin; parents, Clarence “Buck” and Freda Bess Gray; son, Roy C. Martin; brothers Bill and Carmen Gray, and sister Becky Young. Inez is survived by her daughters, Cathy Hargis, Mansfield, Ohio, Laura (Clayton) Smith, Pikeville, Tennessee, son, Kevin (Vicki) Martin ,Cleveland, Tennessee; grandchildren, Preston (Jinya) Martin, Sparta, Tennessee, Cayla Hargis, Mansfield, Ohio, Emilee (AJ) Lawrence , Pikeville, Tennessee; brother, Clarence Gray, Mammoth, West Virginia; sister, Bernice “Sis” Herrald ,Belle, West Virginia; special friends, Juanita Weakley, Burl and Stella Herron; special niece, Dreama Lane; caregiver, Emily Knowles; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Inez Martin was born in Ward, West Virginia in 1937. She attended East Bank High School. After meeting and marrying her love, Roy Martin in 1955, they moved to Grafton, Ohio where they became members of the Church of God of Prophecy in Elyria, Ohio. Inez and Roy followed their calling by God and served the church in many capacities. Inez became a Youth Leader in the Elyria Church. Roy followed his calling to serve and spread the gospel. In 1969, Rev. Roy Martin with Inez by his side accepted the calling to pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy. Churches pastored in Ohio were Lorain, Medina, and Carruthers. In 1984 they relocated to Georgetown, Tennessee. They continued pastoring in Athens and Birchwood, Tennessee Church of God of Prophecy. Inez resided in Pikeville, Tennessee since moving with her daughter, Laura, and family since 2016. She attended the Mount Crest Church of God of Prophecy. Inez loved to gather and talk with family and friends about the Lord and His goodness. She loved reading her favorite scriptures from the Bible and spiritual books. She also enjoyed listening to Christian music while at home. Inez especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a Prayer Warrior for many. The Martin family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Andrew Smith, Erlanger Bledsoe Hospital, Bledsoe County Nursing Home, Omni Rehab and Hearth Hospice of Cleveland for their constant care.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am CDT, Friday, June 17th, 2022, at McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood, Tennessee with Sis. Londa Richardson and Bro. Ken Norris officiating. Those serving as pallbearers are Clayton Smith, AJ Lawrence, Kevin Martin, Preston Martin, Gerod Little, and Dustin Little. Music and Song will be provided by Will Frady.
