Obituary for Lonnie Odell Brock

Min. Lonnie Odell Brock, 61 celebrated his homegoing at his residence on Sunday November 14, 2010. Lonnie was born February 13, 1949 in Pikeville, TN., to Clara Mae Brown and the late Claudius Eugene Brock. Lonnie graduated from Bledsoe County High School and attended Chattanooga State Technical College. He was employed as an orderly and later was promoted to housekeeping supervisor at Bledsoe County Hospital for 23 years. He was an executive board member on the Dayton Carver Alumni Association. He became a deacon at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on April 17, 1994; he was licensed into the ministry in 2002 and became an ordained minister in 2004. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Arlon J.C. Brown; sister, Betty Brock; and brothers, Franklin E. Brock and Edward Lee Brown. Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of seventeen years, Norma Jean; his loving mother, Clara Mae Brown; sisters, Martha Clark of Oak Ridge and Dorothy (J.C.) Nix; brother, James Brown; step-daughter, Sherry (James) Johnson,; granddaughters, Oshkeia Ponder and Chloe Johnson; aunts, Pauline Hood and Elizabeth Woods; in-laws, James Baker, Kay Brock, Douglas LaChasse, James (Edie) Starkey, and Oscar (Sharon) Cox; nieces, Ali, Tanya, Nyla, Natasha, and Deanna ; nephews, Frankie, Mike, Joshua, Marquis, Chris, Demetrius, Nicholas, and Lee; several cousins and many friends. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Friday November 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. CST in the chapel of Pikeville Funeral Home with Rev. Beulah Stoudmire and Elder Irene McCowan officiating. Burial will be in the Hensen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and until service time on Friday.
