Obituary for Raymond Jack Reel

Raymond Jack Reel, 70, passed away at his home Friday August 20, 2010. Born and raised in Bledsoe County, he proudly served his country and retired from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service as a flight engineer on C-130'™s. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Sequatchie Valley. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, and those heated games of Rook and Dominoes. Raymond was born February 15, 1940. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Gennie (Smith) Reel; 3 brothers, J.C. Reel; William 'œRod' Reel, and Claud Lewis Reel. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis (Holt) Reel; daughters, Robin (Ken) Hudson; and Mandy (Garry) McMillen; grandchildren, Kimberlee and Johnny Hudson; Lacy (Eric) Kitchin; and Emily McMillen; 2 great-grandchildren, Beth and Dani; sister, JoAnn (James) Pope of Loudon, TN., sisters-in-law, Dot Reel and Melba Hargis, many nieces and nephews and dearly loved cousins. He loved his friends and family and will be remembered smiling. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Raymond'™s Life will be on Monday August 23, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. CST with Min. Paul Cagle and L.J. Reel officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. CST on Saturday August 21 and again on Sunday August 22 from 12-8 p.m. CST. Burial will be in the Summer City Cemetery with full military honors.
