
Obituary for Margie Rose Summers
Margie Rose Collier Summers beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother passed away at the age of 97 on November 1, 2014 at Erlanger-Bledsoe Hospital. She was born January 15, 1917 to the late Jack and Emma Collier. She was a member and attended the Sequatchie Valley Church of Christ. Some of her favorite pastimes were spent reading and talking about history. She was a diehard Braves and Peyton Manning fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Mitchell Summers, daughter; Lafayta Campbell, son; Charles R. Summers, grandson; Charles Joe Summers, 2 sons-in-law; Norman “Nub” Campbell and Roger Reece.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her five daughters; Bobbie (Grady) Ewton, Emma (John) Boynton, Betty (Eddie) Curtis, Linda (James) Henry, and Brenda Reece, all of Pikeville. Mrs. Summers also left behind twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-three great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law; Evalene and Gladys Summers, several nieces and nephews, and special friends; Rachel McMillen, Aline Bickford, David Barker, and Thelma Blaylock.
A Celebration of Margie’s Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday November 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Min. Paul Cagle and Min. Wesley Garland officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Pikeville City Cemetery. Her grandsons; Jerry, Greg, Randall, Michael, Ed, and Larry Summers, Don Edward Miller, Mitch and Michael Campbell, Bryan Ewton, John and Carl Boynton, Adam Henry, and Brad and Eric Reece will all serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
