Obituary for Wendell Edward Crews
Wendell E. Crews, 74 of Pikeville, formerly of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday July 14, 2011 in Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga TN. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1956-1960. He was also a graduate of Arkansas State University. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mildred Speaks Crews , a brother, Quintas A. Crews, both of Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Avis Harris Crews, Pikeville, TN., son, Gary Steven Crews of Dallas, TX., sister, Rhonda (Jim) Woodruff of Rogers, AR., nephews, Kyle Woodruff and Patrick (Meredith) Woodruff, both of Bentonville, AR., special cousin, Barbara (Dr. J. Richard) Wallace of Dallas, TX., and sister-in-law, Becky (William) Simmons of Pikeville, TN. A Celebration of His Life officiated by Pastor Greg Smartt will be held graveside at Pikeville Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday. He will receive burial with full military honors provided by our American Legion Post 066. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Pikeville United Methodist Church in Wendell'™s memory.
