
Obituary for Thomas Harvey Matney
Thomas H. Matney, 70 of Pikeville, passed away on October 1, 2013. Tom was a Godly man, and was of the Church of God faith. He was a logger by trade. Some of Tom’s favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, training mules, spending time with family and attending singings. He was also a 4 time State Grand Champion in Rabbit Hunting. He was a member of the United Kennel Club. Tom was born in Truman, AR., on February 28, 1943 to the late, Melburn and Maxine Matney. He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents; brothers; Doug, Ronnie, Donnie, and Johnny Matney, and a sister; Barbara Matney. He is survived and will be missed by his wife; Thelma Matney, son; Thomas Corey (Kimberly) Matney, daughters; Crystal (Daniel) Schmidt, Crossville, TN., Joy (Leon) Presley, Charity (Scott) McCloud, brothers; Gary (Diane) Matney, Truman, AR., Mike Matney, Tallahassee, FL., sisters; Doris (Boyd) Holloway, Rock Island, WA. And Sandra Baker, Crossville, TN., 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends and singing buddies. A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday Oct 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Hubert Thurman and Bro. Andy Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. on Thursday and 12 – 8 on Friday. Burial will be in the Collier Cemetery.
